Tapera Jungle Project

At the moment we have a project which the focus is to recover Amazon land ownership, restore and protect it, valuing this treasure of biodiversity, which has more than 100 species of trees.
Known as Tapera Jungle Project, the main objective is to conserve 3,400 hectares of Amazon forest through conservation and sustainable forest management.

Our intention is to maintain 100% of the existing native forest cover in the project area (where 20% of the area can be legally cleared). The project will therefore generate GHG reductions and removals through the conservation of open native Amazon forest.

Urupolpas’ objective is to implement and develop forest management projects, and generate economically viable alternatives to unregular deforestation activities.

The forest management projects are the company’s main activities, starting with different representative projects, to quickly scale up with significant impacting projects in Amazonia.
Urupolpas is using innovative technology for forestry projects, and invests in high end training programs for its local field team, so that the initial forest projects can be quickly multiplied to all Amazonia.

Different project axes are developed:

1: Acquisition of private degradated areas, to protect existing forest ecosystems, through the generation of carbon credit and the collection and sale of natural forest by-products.
2: Contracts with producers’ associations and cooperatives, to map their properties, and protect the existing forest, giving financial value to forest conservation.

Several environmental services are being developed by Urupolpas, and especially:

Georeferencing in the field, with our own geodesic GNSS equipment (Leica GG04, Trimble G7+, Drone RTK)
